1. Introduction
Website Lab ("we," "us," or "our") is a web development and digital services business based in Richmond, Michigan. We operate the website websitelab.biz and provide related services including custom website development, Google Business Profile optimization, and the Review Boost SMS review request platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information across all of our services.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly:
- Contact Form Submissions: First name, last name, email address, phone number, and message content submitted through our contact form at websitelab.biz/contact.
- Client Onboarding Data: Business name, contact information, website goals, design preferences, brand assets, content materials, and file uploads submitted through our onboarding form.
- Website Update Requests: Business name, contact details, service type (lump sum or monthly subscription), update descriptions, reference links, file uploads, and priority level submitted through our website updates form.
- Service Engagement Data: Business information, website content, images, logos, and other materials provided during the course of our web development and Google Business Profile services.
Information Collected Through Our Tools:
- Review Boost SMS Data: Customer names and phone numbers entered by participating businesses into the Review Boost platform for the purpose of sending Google review request messages.
Information Collected Automatically:
- Analytics Data: We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Vercel Web Analytics to collect anonymized usage data including page views, session duration, device type, browser, screen resolution, and approximate geographic location. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you.
- Performance Data: Vercel Speed Insights collects page load performance metrics to help us optimize site speed.
- Cookies: We use essential cookies for session management and authentication in our web applications. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Service Delivery: To design, develop, host, and maintain custom websites for our clients.
- Google Business Profile Services: To set up and optimize Google Business Profiles on behalf of our clients.
- Form Processing: To receive and respond to contact inquiries, onboarding submissions, and website update requests.
- SMS Review Requests: To send review request messages on behalf of participating businesses, only after both written and verbal consent are obtained from the end-user and confirmed by the business operator. See our SMS Terms for details.
- Communication: To respond to inquiries, provide project updates, and communicate service-related information to existing clients.
- Website Improvement: To analyze anonymized usage patterns and improve our website performance and user experience.
4. SMS Messaging (ReviewBoost)
Our ReviewBoost service enables business clients to send SMS review request messages to their customers. Regarding SMS communications:
- Messages are only sent after the business obtains both written consent (via service contract or invoice) and verbal consent from the recipient, and the business operator confirms this in the ReviewBoost application
- Recipients may receive up to 4 messages per month, including initial review requests and follow-up reminders
- Each message contains the business name and a Google review link
- Recipients can opt out at any time by replying STOP
- Recipients can get help by replying HELP
- Message and data rates may apply depending on the recipient's mobile carrier and plan
- We do not sell, share, or use phone numbers collected through ReviewBoost for marketing or any other purpose. No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes
- Phone numbers entered into ReviewBoost are not stored in a persistent database
- Consent to receive a review request is not a condition of purchase or service from any participating business

5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We share information only with the following service providers who are necessary to operate our services:
- Web3Forms: Processes form submissions from our contact, onboarding, and website update forms. Data is transmitted securely to Web3Forms servers and forwarded to us via email.
- Twilio: Delivers SMS messages sent through the Review Boost platform. Twilio processes phone numbers and message content for delivery only.
- Vercel: Hosts our website and web applications. Collects anonymized analytics and performance data.
- Google Analytics: Collects anonymized website usage data. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed by Google Analytics.
- Google Business Profile: For clients using our GBP optimization service, business information is submitted to Google per their terms.
We may also disclose information when required by law, regulation, subpoena, or legal process.
6. File Uploads
Our onboarding and website update forms allow file uploads (images, documents, logos). Uploaded files are transmitted securely through Web3Forms and are used solely for the purpose of completing the requested web development or update work. Files are retained for the duration of the project or client relationship.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, including:
- All data transmitted via HTTPS (SSL/TLS encryption)
- Secure authentication with rate limiting on protected applications
- Hosting on Vercel's infrastructure with enterprise-grade security
- No storage of payment or financial information on our servers
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
- Client project data: Retained for the duration of the business relationship and a reasonable period afterward for reference.
- Form submissions: Retained in our email for the duration of the business relationship.
- SMS phone numbers (Review Boost): Not stored persistently. Numbers exist only during the active sending session.
- Analytics data: Retained per the default policies of Google Analytics (26 months) and Vercel Analytics.
- Website content and assets: Client website files are retained on hosting infrastructure for as long as the site is active.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your personal data
- Opt out of SMS messages by replying STOP to any message
- Opt out of analytics tracking by using browser privacy settings, Do Not Track headers, or ad-blocking extensions
- Request that we stop processing your data for specific purposes

10. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
